Since 1993, An Bonnán Buí has been a well-established feature on the Donegal culinary scene. Until 2011 it operated as a restaurant offering a unique blend of Irish, European and South American dishes and was highly praised by Ireland’s main culinary guides such as Georgina Campbell and Bridgestone. In 2007 the Bridgestone wrote :
"One of the best meals we had all holiday... one of the best chocolate cakes I've ever had... excellent service... great atmosphere. The most amazing atmosphere and the food, menu and wine list are exquisite. And that is the reaction of just a couple of happy readers who found the trip to the farthermost northernmost reaches of Donegal to be well worth their time, thanks to the great inventiveness and originality of this talented couple."
After four years away savouring the culinary scene of Belo Horizonte /MG (Brazil) we are back to Rathmullan with the same inventiveness and originality this time with a new concept! We are now a café & bistro where you can treat yourself to fresh, healthy and locally-sourced lunch and dinner.
We are also offering more than great food and a cosy atmosphere – we are hosting an exhibition on our second floor about the Flight of the Earls and the Rathmullan Film Festival which happens in February.
We hope to see old friends again and make new ones.
